The Use of Pet Bottles as an Alternative Illuminance Source
Team Members: Ana Alves, Allana Jeske and Natacha Oleinik
Project Purpose
The purpose of the project is to bring an inexpensive and aesthetic pleasant solution to rooms with lack of luminance during daytime. Also, consists in the research of underwater lighting and storage of energy through the bottle.
Project Description:
Our 3rd project is based in the use of Pet Bottles to save energy and reduce costs, building a solar bottle bulb. This scheme was created by Alfredo Moser and consist in the use of a pet bottle, filled with water and just a little bleach, fixed through the roof of the house. This idea was developed through a non-profit group called Litter of Light, who aim disseminate sustainable solutions around the world. In this sense for our project our purpose is to create an aesthetic pleasant cover which will help disseminate the light around the room. In addition, we aim to research the use of the bottle under water and the storage of energy, as the bottle bulb only works for the period of daytime.
Weekly Schedule:
1st week:
Research on the project and fabrication of an experimental model;
2nd week:
Development of an origami which will help at the dissemination of the light through the room;
3rd week:
Experiments with the bottle under water and research on storage of solar energy
4th week:
An origami cover which will help disseminate the solar light and at the same time, reducing the waste of energy and being visual pleasant.
Very interesting !
